Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Inside Sources programme hosted by Laolu Akande, the envoy said discussions between Nigeria and the United States have remained active at different levels, even though the two presidents are yet to meet face-to-face.

According to Are, the prospect of a presidential visit remains alive, but any such trip would ultimately depend on President Tinubu’s official schedule and other logistical considerations.

The ambassador also suggested that an eventual visit could provide an opportunity for President Tinubu to meet his American counterpart, Donald Trump, as both countries continue efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation.

While declining to give a specific timeline, Are stressed that diplomatic engagement between Abuja and Washington has continued behind the scenes through sustained interactions involving officials from both governments.

He noted that although there has not yet been a physical meeting between the two leaders, communication and cooperation between Nigeria and the United States remain strong.

The ambassador added that hosting President Tinubu in Washington before the end of his tenure would be a personal milestone and one that many Nigerians would welcome.

However, he maintained that the decision rests entirely on the President’s programme and evolving national priorities.
