Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has reportedly been arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, upon his arrival from Enugu aboard a chartered flight.

According to reports, Nnaji was taken into custody on Wednesday shortly after landing at the airport and is expected to be transferred to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning.
Sources familiar with the development told Maygist that the former minister’s arrest is connected to an ongoing investigation by the anti-graft agency.
The ICPC has reportedly been investigating Nnaji since his resignation from office last year over allegations that he forged his academic certificates.
The latest development comes just days after Nnaji publicly denied reports that a court had issued a warrant for his arrest.
Reacting to an earlier publication, the former minister dismissed claims that he was evading law enforcement authorities, insisting that he had not gone into hiding.
Nnaji maintained at the time that there was no basis for reports suggesting he was avoiding arrest or refusing to honour invitations from investigators.

His response followed reports that the ICPC had secured a court order in connection with its investigation into the alleged certificate forgery.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the ICPC nor the former minister had issued an official statement confirming Wednesday’s arrest.
