Speaking during a live Instagram session, Kuti recounted what he said were troubling events that occurred while he was being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Lagos.

According to him, he chose to remain silent about the incident for a long time because of the identity of a person he believes was connected to the alleged plan.

He explained that the individual in question is widely admired by many young Nigerians, which made him reluctant to bring the matter into the public space earlier.

The Game Of Affiliation

Kuti also disclosed that activist Omoyele Sowore had previously encouraged him to speak out about the experience, but he decided against it at the time, preferring to deal with the situation privately.

Despite the seriousness of the allegation, the singer emphasised that he has no intention of attacking anyone based on their political affiliations.

He noted that supporting figures such as Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, or Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains a personal choice, and he respects individuals’ rights to align with any political camp.

However, Kuti hinted that he may eventually confront the person he believes was involved, saying he would do so when circumstances in the country are more stable.
