Stanley Osifo Challenges Tinubu for APC 2027 Presidential Ticket

A former presidential hopeful, Stanley Osifo, has announced plans to seek the 2027 presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, signaling a possible contest against incumbent President Bola Tinubu.

Stanley Osifo Challenges Tinubu for APC 2027 Presidential Ticket

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, Osifo confirmed he is preparing to obtain the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms, which cost a combined ₦100 million, ahead of the primaries.

His declaration comes at a time when support within the APC appears to be consolidating around Tinubu.

Governors Endorse Tinubu

Notably, all 22 APC governors have publicly endorsed the President as the party’s preferred candidate for the 2027 race.

Osifo, however, argued that such endorsements do not automatically determine who emerges as the party’s flagbearer.

He emphasised that the party’s internal rules and Nigeria’s electoral laws provide equal opportunity for all qualified aspirants to contest.

Responding to speculation that his ambition might be backed by the President, Osifo firmly rejected the claims, stating that he has never received any financial or political support from Tinubu.

The Challenge

He challenged anyone with evidence to make it public.

While acknowledging the right of party leaders to support candidates of their choice, Osifo maintained that endorsements should not discourage others from pursuing their ambitions.

He reiterated that every eligible party member has the constitutional right to participate in the race.
