A tragic incident in Abuja has sparked outrage and grief after a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Abdulsamad Jamiu, lost his life during a security operation gone wrong.

The young corps member was reportedly caught in a crossfire between soldiers and suspected armed robbers in the early hours of April 25, 2026.
The incident took place at Shagari Estate in the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory, where residents were jolted awake by gunfire as security forces responded to an attack on the neighborhood.
In the aftermath, a video shared online by Abuja PR captured the heartbreaking reaction of Jamiu’s mother. Overcome with grief, she tearfully called for justice, insisting her son’s death must not go unanswered. “Nigeria has happened to me. I need justice. They killed him. They came for him,” she cried.
What The Army Said
The Nigerian Army’s Guards Brigade has since acknowledged the incident, describing the loss as deeply unfortunate.
In an official statement signed by its spokesperson, Lieutenant Olawuyi Odunola, the Brigade expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and all others affected by the attack.
