Seyi Makinde has formally announced his bid for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), unveiling a new political initiative tagged Reset Nigeria Movement to galvanise support across the country.

The declaration was made on Thursday during a political rally in Ibadan, where Makinde said the country urgently needs a fresh direction built on accountability, strong institutions and people-focused governance.
Addressing supporters at the event, the Oyo State governor stated that Nigeria must move away from what he described as “politics as usual,” insisting that the time had come to rebuild citizens’ confidence in leadership and create a system that delivers meaningful progress for all.
Makinde explained that the Reset Nigeria Movement would focus on key national priorities including economic expansion, employment opportunities, education, healthcare, infrastructure, electricity reforms, security and institutional development.
According to him, only competent and transparent leadership can restore public trust and reposition the nation for sustainable growth.
