Speaking in an interview with PM News, Edochie reflected on the few moments they shared, saying the late actor left lasting memories despite meeting him only three times.

According to the veteran actor, each encounter with Ekubo stood out because of his warm personality, infectious energy and generous spirit.

Recalling one of those meetings, Edochie said Ekubo arrived at his hotel with a cow and a group of Ogene drummers to personally invite him to an event.

He added that the gesture perfectly reflected the late actor’s lively character and deep respect for his seniors in the industry.

Big Plans For My 80th Birthday

Edochie also revealed that Ekubo had discussed plans to organise a grand celebration for his 80th birthday next year, a dream that will now never come to pass following the actor’s untimely death.

“Alexx Ekubo came, he saw, and he left an indelible impression. I met him three times. On the first occasion, he arrived at my hotel with a big cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite me to an event,” Edochie said.

“I was told he had big plans for my 80th birthday celebration next year, but unfortunately, he is gone.”

The Loyal Friend

The veteran actor also commended fellow Nollywood star IK Ogbonna for the loyalty he showed Ekubo throughout his lifetime and even after his passing.
