Bwala Knocks Peter Obi, Accuses NDC Candidate Of Opposing Policies He Once Supported

Presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala has taken a swipe at the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, accusing him of criticising major government policies he once publicly supported.

Bwala Knocks Peter Obi, Accuses NDC Candidate Of Opposing Policies He Once Supported

Bwala, who serves as Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication and Media, made the remarks in a post shared on his 𝕏 handle.

The presidential aide questioned Obi’s reaction to what he described as positive developments under the Tinubu administration, suggesting that the former Anambra State governor appears unhappy whenever the country records progress.

According to Bwala, it is surprising that someone seeking to govern Nigeria would react negatively to policies aimed at improving the country.

“I don’t know why anytime Nigeria makes progress, it angers Peter Obi. Why? It is the same Nigeria he is seeking to govern in his wild goose chase,” Bwala wrote.

He also alleged that Obi had changed his position on several key national issues after the 2023 presidential election.

According to Bwala, Obi had previously advocated for the removal of fuel subsidy, the establishment of state police and the unification of the foreign exchange system, but has since criticised those same policies after they were implemented by the current administration.

“Before the 2023 elections, he said he would remove subsidy; we did and now he says he will not. He said he would create state police; we did, he is saying he will not. He said he would unify the foreign exchange; we did and now he is saying he will not,” he stated.

Bwala further questioned Obi’s consistency, arguing that the former governor now appears uncertain about the policies he intends to pursue if elected president.

“It seems he doesn’t even know what he plans for Nigeria,” the presidential aide added.

The comments are the latest in the growing exchange of criticism between members of the Tinubu administration and the NDC presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
