Kimberly Daniels Accuses Bello Matawalle of Bribery Over Nigeria Security Report

Kimberly Daniels, a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives, has publicly accused Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of attempting to influence international perception through bribery.

Kimberly Daniels Accuses Bello Matawalle of Bribery Over Nigeria Security Report

The allegation comes shortly after Daniels called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to either redeploy or remove Matawalle from his position, pointing to escalating insecurity across parts of Nigeria.

Her concerns follow a wave of violent attacks during the 2026 Easter period, particularly in Plateau, Kaduna, and Nasarawa states, where several lives were lost.

Daniels argued that there is a widening disconnect between official government statements and the realities experienced by communities affected by ongoing violence.

In a video shared on her Facebook page on Monday, she further claimed that Matawalle allegedly offered money to a U.S. official in an effort to counter findings from a report issued by the United World Congress of Diplomats (UN-WCD).

Targeted Violence Against Christians

According to her, the report raises serious concerns about targeted violence against Christians in Nigeria and implicates the minister.

Daniels, who also serves as chairperson of the UN-WCD, maintained that the alleged attempt was aimed at discrediting the report and reshaping its narrative.

She emphasised that no amount of pressure or inducement would deter her from speaking out on the issue.
