Bose Ogulu has addressed ongoing criticism about her son, Burna Boy, particularly claims that he comes across as arrogant.
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Ogulu shared her perspective on public perception and how the Burna Boy brand is viewed.
She made it clear that she is largely unfazed by the labels or opinions people attach to either her or her son.
In her view, public judgment is an inevitable part of fame, and what truly matters is personal identity rather than external narratives.
Confidence Vs Arrogance
Ogulu also challenged the idea that confidence should be mistaken for arrogance.
She emphasised that being aware of one’s worth and expressing it openly is a form of self-respect, not a character flaw.
According to her, standing firm in one’s abilities should not require apology.
Expanding on this, she pointed out that societal expectations—often influenced by race, nationality, and gender—have historically pressured people to appear modest or subdued.
She rejected that notion, arguing that no one should feel compelled to diminish themselves to fit into such expectations.

In her words, accepting one’s value and carrying it boldly is not something to shy away from.
Instead, she suggested that if others question that confidence, they should be willing to engage and test it rather than dismiss it as arrogance.
