Weeks after the death of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, his family has officially announced plans to lay him to rest — bringing to a close a chapter that touched fans, colleagues, and loved ones across Nigeria.
The burial rites are scheduled to conclude on June 18, 2026.

Recall that the actor passed away on May 11 after a reported battle with kidney cancer.
While audiences knew him for the charisma, charm, and unforgettable presence he brought to the screen, those closest to him are now preparing for the difficult task of saying goodbye.
In an obituary statement shared via his Instagram page on Monday, the family appealed to the public to continue praying for his wife and the entire family during this period of grief.
Lagos To Host Service Of Songs
The first major public farewell will take place in Lagos.
According to the funeral programme released by the family, a Service of Songs has been scheduled for:

Venue: The Monarch Event Centre
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Guests attending the event have been asked to wear white — a colour often associated with peace, honour, and celebration of life.
Homecoming To Abia For Final Farewell
After Lagos, attention will shift to Abia State where the actor will be buried.
The Wake Keep is scheduled to hold on:

Venue: 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu
For many families, a wake is more than tradition.

Burial And Interment Fixed For June 18
The final funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
According to the programme:
The service will hold at Mary Slessor School before interment at the family residence in Ujari Village.
A reception is expected to follow immediately after the burial ceremony at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village.
Attendees have again been requested to appear in white.
