President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Romuald Wadagni following his victory in the recent presidential election in Benin.

Wadagni, who currently serves as the nation’s Finance Minister, emerged as president-elect after securing a decisive win in the April 12 poll.
His victory, according to Tinubu, reflects the strong trust and confidence the people of Benin have in his leadership and track record in public service.
In a statement issued on April 16, Tinubu also commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election, noting that the process demonstrated Benin’s commitment to democratic values.
He applauded both the citizens and authorities for maintaining stability throughout the exercise.
Highlighting the enduring relationship between Nigeria and Benin, Tinubu pointed to their shared cultural heritage and history of cooperation.
He expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral ties under Wadagni’s incoming administration.
The Nigerian leader further emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing regional priorities, particularly in areas such as security and economic development.
He noted that both countries have key roles to play within regional bodies like the Economic Community of West African States and the African Union.
