In the footage, the officer, whose identity and rank could not immediately be independently verified, speaks dismissively about Obi’s presidential ambition and argues that the former Anambra State governor cannot become Nigeria’s president because of his Igbo identity.
The remarks have triggered attention online, particularly because the speaker appears to be wearing a police uniform and is commenting on an active political contest.
‘Peter Obi can never become president’
The officer is heard insisting that Obi has no realistic path to the presidency, making a broader claim that an Igbo person cannot become president of Nigeria.
