Tope Fasua has urged Nigerians to adopt more cautious spending habits as the country continues to grapple with rising living costs and economic hardship.

Speaking during a private Coffee Hangout hosted by the Kay Hikers Club in Abuja, Fasua said many households must learn to live within their financial means and adjust their lifestyles to current economic realities.
His remarks came during an intense exchange with a female participant who expressed frustration over the increasing cost of food, insecurity, and the declining purchasing power of ordinary Nigerians.
She argued that essential commodities had become too expensive for many families to afford comfortably.
Responding to the concerns, Fasua admitted that prices of goods and services had significantly increased compared to previous years.
However, he maintained that proper planning and disciplined spending could still help families cope with the situation.
According to him, families can stretch limited resources by prioritising home-cooked meals and making smarter market choices.
He noted that with careful budgeting, even modest amounts could sustain a household for several days.
Fasua added that he personally visits major markets, including those in Utako and Wuse, to monitor prices and understand how ordinary Nigerians shop for food and household items.
He encouraged citizens to focus on practical spending rather than unnecessary expenses.
The presidential aide further stated that government intervention alone cannot solve every economic challenge facing citizens.

He stressed that Nigerians must also adapt to changing economic conditions instead of expecting immediate solutions from authorities.
While acknowledging widespread hardship, Fasua warned against what he described as sensationalising the economic situation, insisting that balancing expectations with reality is necessary during difficult times.
