The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.
According to the recruitment guidelines released by the Navy on Monday, online registration will begin on October 2, 2026, and close on October 31, 2026.
The Navy said interested applicants must complete their registration through its official recruitment portal and warned members of the public against paying money to individuals claiming to have connections within the recruitment process.
It stressed that registration and all stages of the exercise are free of charge.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy stated.
Who can apply?
The recruitment is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who possess a National Identification Number (NIN) and meet the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.
Applicants are required to be medically, psychologically and physically fit and must not have any previous criminal conviction.
The Navy also specified minimum height requirements of 1.69 metres for male applicants and 1.65 metres for female applicants.
For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, the age requirement is between 18 and 22 years as of December 31, 2026.
Such applicants must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.
The recruitment guidelines further provide separate requirements for candidates with OND and NCE qualifications, tradesmen, applicants in medical-related professions, as well as sportsmen and sportswomen.
Documents applicants must provide
Applicants who successfully complete the online registration will be required to print several documents for subsequent stages of the recruitment process.
These include the acknowledgment form, parent or guardian consent form, Local Government attestation form and guarantor’s certification form.

The Navy said details about the recruitment examination, including the examination date and venues, would be communicated to shortlisted applicants at a later date.
Navy warns against multiple applications
The service also warned applicants against submitting more than one application.
According to the recruitment guidelines, each candidate is permitted to submit only one valid application, while multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
“Only a single valid application is permitted; multiple online applications shall be disqualified,” the guideline stated.
Applicants are also expected to have basic communication skills in English, with the Navy warning that inability to communicate in the language could result in disqualification at any stage of the exercise.
The Navy advised interested Nigerians to consult its official recruitment portal for the full guidelines and other information ahead of the opening of the application portal on October 2, 2026.
