The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has outlined its next course of action following the successful conclusion of its national convention, held despite reported efforts to disrupt the gathering.

At the event, the party formally endorsed a new National Working Committee led by David Mark.
Other key figures ratified into leadership positions include Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, Babachir Lawal as Deputy National Chairman (North East), and Bolaji Abdullahi as National Publicity Secretary, among others.
With the convention now concluded, the party says its immediate priority is to formally notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and begin laying the groundwork for its primary elections ahead of the 2027 polls.
Speaking on behalf of the convention’s media sub-committee, Kola Ologbondiyan emphasised that the ADC has met all legal requirements needed to participate in the upcoming general elections.
He explained that the party had already informed INEC ahead of the convention and would now proceed to submit its official report.
The Notice
Ologbondiyan maintained that INEC’s physical presence at the event was not a legal necessity, stressing that compliance lies in proper notification and documentation.
According to him, the law only requires that the commission be given a 21-day notice and subsequently furnished with a report of proceedings.
Insiders within the party suggest that clearing the convention hurdle marks a major step forward for the ADC.
With a recognised leadership structure now in place, attention is expected to shift toward selecting a presidential candidate and launching early campaign strategies.
