The political journey of actress Doris Ogala has taken an unexpected turn, with reports that the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State for the 2027 election has been remanded at Ikoyi Prison in Lagos.

Ogala, who has in recent months made headlines over her political ambitions and public confrontations with prominent religious figures, is reportedly being held pending the scheduling of her bail hearing in an ongoing legal dispute involving Pastor Chris Okafor.
The development was disclosed by reality TV star and comedian DeeOne in a post on his X handle on Wednesday.
According to DeeOne, Ogala would remain in custody until a date is fixed for her bail hearing.
“Doris Ogala has just been remanded in Ikoyi Prison till she can get a date for her bail hearing,” he said.
The reported development comes amid a prolonged legal dispute between the actress and Okafor, the General Overseer of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries.
The dispute attracted public attention after Okafor’s pre-wedding photographs emerged online, prompting Ogala to make claims about their alleged past relationship.
Ogala claimed she had been romantically involved with the clergyman and that he had promised to marry her before allegedly choosing another woman.
Her public statements and verbal attacks on the pastor subsequently became a subject of widespread discussion, with the matter escalating into a legal confrontation.
From public controversy to a legal battle
For Ogala, the reported remand marks another dramatic development in a series of controversies that have kept her in the public eye.
The actress has also been outspoken on political matters, including the performance of Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
Her comments recently brought her into a public disagreement with Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International.
Suleman had reportedly praised Otti’s administration, suggesting that the governor could secure a second term without extensive campaigning.
Ogala challenged the pastor’s assessment, questioning his position and alleging that he had not visited Abia State despite making public comments about the state’s political and developmental situation.

The exchange added another layer to Ogala’s increasingly visible presence in political and religious debates.
A governorship ambition under scrutiny
Ogala’s reported detention also raises questions about the path ahead for her political ambition.
As the AAC candidate seeking to contest the Abia governorship election in 2027, she faces a political landscape in which public perception, legal developments and campaign activities could all shape her journey.
However, the reported remand does not, in itself, establish the outcome of the legal dispute or determine her eligibility to contest the election.
The immediate issue remains the scheduling of her bail hearing and the next steps in the case involving Okafor.
For now, Ogala’s reported custody has placed her personal legal battle and political ambition at the centre of renewed public attention.
