Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has publicly criticised Rufai Oseni, an anchor with Arise Television, accusing him of displaying arrogance and disrespect toward guests on his programme.

In a video shared on his social media platforms, Edochie alleged that Oseni frequently makes interviewees uncomfortable during live broadcasts.
According to the actor, a host’s responsibility is to create a welcoming environment for guests rather than confront them in a way that appears hostile.
Edochie also questioned the broadcaster’s moral standing to challenge political leaders on national television.
He referenced a past incident in Lagos involving Oseni, who was reportedly stopped for driving in a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane.
The actor claimed that the journalist initially resisted taking responsibility and only apologised after footage of the encounter surfaced online.
“Isn’t this the same Rufai Oseni who was caught driving on the BRT lane?” Edochie asked in the video.
He further alleged that Oseni had reacted by invoking his status and threatening to contact top state officials before eventually offering an apology when the video became public.
The film star argued that respect should be mutual in interviews, stressing that telling a guest to leave the studio if they feel uncomfortable undermines professionalism.
He described such conduct as contrary to the ethics of journalism.
Beyond his criticism of the media personality, Edochie also voiced support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the current administration, emphasising that meaningful change takes time.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is Nigeria’s leader, whether you like it or not,” he said. “He has only just assumed office. The country should give him time. Rome was not built in a day.”
