Woman Kills Husband Over Abuse On Cat

Mary Harrison has confessed to shooting her husband to death for what she says was abuse of their family pet.

Mary after canvassing the neighborhood in northeast Dallas, looking for her lost cat, put up signs pleading for her pet’s return, and neighbors say the cat eventually turned to the family, local media reported.

But the cat is at the center of more turmoil in the family, police said.

Dallas Police officers responding to a call on shooting early Saturday were met by Harrison, 47, the department said in a statement. She told police she had had enough and shot her husband.

Dexter Harrison, 49, was transported to Texas Health Dallas, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

His wife was taken to police headquarters where She confessed to shooting her husband for what she says was abuse of the pet.

Harrison was arrested for murder with a bond set for $100,000, Dallas County Jail records show.

It was unclear Monday whether Harrison was represented by an attorney. Local station CBS 21 reported the family includes two teenage sons.

Neighbors told the station that the Harrison family had moved into a duplex a few months ago.

“A man got shot over a cat? It’s kind of crazy. It’s unbelievable. A man loses his life over a cat. I mean, people love their pets, but it ain’t that serious … to die for a cat,” neighbor Carl Phillips told the station.
