The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that the administration of late former President Muhammadu Buhari made concerted efforts to destroy the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during its time in power.

Wike made the revelation on Thursday while addressing party supporters, recalling the political intimidation and internal sabotage the PDP faced under the previous government.
According to him, despite several attempts by the ruling party at the time to weaken the opposition through political manipulation and pressure, the PDP survived because of the resilience of its members and supporters.
“They tried everything to finish the PDP, but we refused to die. We stood firm because we knew Nigeria needed a strong opposition,” Wike said.
The Minister, known for his bold political stance, also hinted that the party’s survival was a testament to its grassroots strength and democratic foundation.
Political observers say Wike’s remarks could rekindle debates about Nigeria’s political climate under the Buhari administration and its handling of opposition parties.
