Nigerian businessman and social figure Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has opened up about his growing voice in political discussions, emphasising that his intentions are rooted in national development rather than personal ambition.
In a statement released on Monday, he addressed rising public interest in his political stance, making it clear that his engagement is not driven by any quest for power or personal benefit.
He highlighted that his success has been built independently through entrepreneurship, strategic investments, and years of hard work, without holding public office or relying on government support.
Obi Cubana explained that his interest in political discourse stems from a desire to foster stronger connections between leaders and citizens.
He pointed out that many Nigerians, particularly young people, feel disconnected from governance, and he hopes to help bridge that divide across regions and generations.
He noted that while some government policies may be well-intentioned, they often fail to deliver real impact due to poor communication or a lack of alignment with the needs of the people.
According to him, rebuilding public trust requires consistent effort, transparency, and a governance style that genuinely reflects the voices of citizens.
Obi Cubana Addresses Recent Controversy
Addressing recent controversies surrounding alleged remarks about Igbo people, he firmly rejected any claims suggesting he questioned their intelligence or unity.
He stressed that he would never support narratives that create division or undermine any ethnic group in Nigeria, describing such claims as misleading and harmful to national cohesion.
Obi Cubana also called for a more coordinated approach to governance, urging leaders to view development as a collective responsibility across local, state, and federal levels rather than a centralized effort.
Speaking further, he shed light on his involvement with the City Boy Movement, describing it as a platform aimed at encouraging broader civic participation.
He said the initiative seeks to bring young Nigerians and private sector players into meaningful conversations about policy and governance.
