Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has issued a strong caution amid escalating tensions following former U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks about potential military action in Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians.

Speaking during a diplomatic briefing in Abuja, Tuggar warned that any external interference or military aggression could trigger a humanitarian catastrophe, drawing parallels with the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
“We should not create another Sudan. Nigeria has a population of 230 million souls. It is the largest democracy on the African continent,”
the minister stated firmly.
He stressed that Nigeria remains committed to religious freedom, peace, and dialogue, and that the government is working closely with international partners to address security and human rights concerns through diplomatic means.
Tuggar urged the international community to support Nigeria’s democratic institutions rather than undermine them, emphasizing that stability in Nigeria is critical to the peace and economic growth of the entire African continent.
