The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has ordered Arab Contractors, the firm handling the rehabilitation of the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, to complete the remaining 4.5-kilometre Abia section before the end of November 2025.

Umahi gave the directive during an inspection visit to the project site in Aba, Abia State, on Friday, where he assessed the progress and quality of work being done.
He emphasized the federal government’s commitment to ensuring the completion of critical infrastructure across the country within stipulated timelines, urging the contractors to speed up work and maintain construction standards.
“This project is a priority for the Ministry, and we expect the remaining 4.5 kilometres in the Abia axis to be delivered by the end of November,” Umahi stated.
The Minister commended the progress achieved so far but stressed that timely delivery and durability remain non-negotiable. The Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway serves as a vital link between the South-East and South-South regions, facilitating trade and transportation across Nigeria.
