Cashmir Chinedu Luke, the Chief Executive Officer of a U.S.-based home care company, has been arrested by federal authorities at San Francisco International Airport over allegations of defrauding the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) of more than $7 million.

According to investigators, Luke’s company—tasked with providing home care services to military veterans—allegedly submitted fraudulent claims, billing the VA for services that were either never rendered or grossly inflated. Authorities say the scheme ran for several years before being uncovered.
Luke is now facing multiple federal charges, including healthcare fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy, all carrying significant prison time if convicted. He is expected to make his first court appearance this week as the investigation continues.
The U.S. Justice Department has intensified its crackdown on fraudulent healthcare practices targeting the VA system, stressing that every dollar lost directly affects the welfare of American veterans.
