Two National Assembly Officials Jailed for ₦4.8 Million Job Scam

Two officials of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) have been sentenced to prison over their involvement in a ₦4.8 million job recruitment scam.

According to reports, the duo defrauded unsuspecting job seekers under the guise of securing employment at the National Assembly. The court found them guilty on multiple counts of fraud, conspiracy, and obtaining money under false pretence.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge condemned the act as a breach of public trust and a betrayal of confidence reposed in public servants. Both convicts were ordered to refund the stolen funds and serve their jail terms without an option of fine.

The case, prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), is part of ongoing efforts to sanitize the public service and curb fraudulent recruitment practices across federal institutions.
