US President Donald Trump has announced that Venezuela will use the money it earns from a new oil deal with the United States to purchase only American-made products, deepening economic ties between Washington and Caracas under the recent arrangement.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Venezuela will spend its oil revenues buying American agricultural products, medicines, medical devices, and equipment—including items needed to improve the country’s electric grid and energy infrastructure. Trump described the commitment as a strategic realignment, with Venezuela making the United States its principal trading partner.
The announcement follows the Trump administration’s broader effort to control and market Venezuelan oil, with officials saying interim authorities in Caracas agreed to send between 30 million and 50 million barrels of sanctioned crude to the United States. Proceeds from these sales will first be settled in US-controlled accounts and then used, according to Trump, for purchases that benefit both Venezuelans and Americans.
The move has drawn global attention as it ties Venezuela’s economic recovery to US trade and industry, potentially reshaping energy and diplomatic relations in the region.
