In a decisive move aimed at restructuring Nigeria’s security architecture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a sweeping overhaul of the Armed Forces’ leadership, appointing new Service Chiefs to take charge of the nation’s defense operations.

According to a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the President announced the appointment of General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), replacing General Christopher Musa.
Other key appointments include:
Major-General W. Shaibu – Chief of Army Staff
Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke – Chief of Air Staff
Rear Admiral I. Abbas – Chief of Naval Staff
Meanwhile, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue to serve as the Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The President’s latest appointments reflect his ongoing commitment to enhancing military efficiency, tackling insecurity, and building a more responsive defense system capable of addressing emerging threats across the country.
Security analysts view this move as one of Tinubu’s most significant steps toward redefining Nigeria’s national defense strategy since assuming office.
