President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed key requests presented by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) aimed at rescuing the nation’s distressed media industry from its current economic and operational challenges.

During a meeting with the Guild, President Tinubu acknowledged the crucial role of the press in sustaining democracy and nation-building, assuring the editors that his administration would support policies and reforms to strengthen the media landscape.
However, he urged media professionals to exercise their gatekeeping responsibilities with fairness, objectivity, and patriotism, cautioning that irresponsible journalism, fake news, and sensational reporting could endanger national unity and democratic stability.
The President emphasized the need for a balanced and accountable press that informs the public responsibly while holding government institutions to high standards of transparency.
