Shock Twist: Former FBI Chief James Comey Indicted on Federal Charges

A federal grand jury has indicted former FBI Director James Comey on two criminal counts—making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding.

The charges arise from Comey’s 2020 Senate testimony about the FBI’s handling of investigations into Russian election interference and leaked information tied to Hillary Clinton. Prosecutors allege he lied when he denied authorizing leaks and obstructed oversight efforts.

Comey has publicly insisted he is innocent and called for a fair trial. In a video statement after the indictment, he said, “We will not live on our knees.”

His arraignment is set for October 9, 2025, before Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff in the Eastern District of Virginia.

The indictment is seen by many observers as a politically charged move, especially given that it comes just days after President Trump publicly demanded the DOJ prosecute figures like Comey.
