At a recent gathering, Vice President Kashim Shettima declared that the Igbo people remain the greatest stakeholders in the Nigerian project. He emphasized their widespread presence and economic influence across the country, stating:

“Half of Abuja is owned by Ndigbo. Half of the population of Lagos is largely made up of Ndigbo.”
Shettima argued that the Igbo — known for being “geographically mobile, economically enterprising and educationally ambitious” — are integral to Nigeria’s unity and growth.
He further called on the federal government and all Nigerians to support and empower the Igbo community, stressing that inclusive national development depends on recognizing and enabling the contributions of all ethnic groups.
