The appointment was formally conveyed to him by Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son.

Obi Cubana shared the development on Tuesday via his Instagram page, revealing that Seyi Tinubu personally visited his home on Monday night to present the official appointment letter.

According to the Anambra-born businessman, the visit went beyond formalities, as both men engaged in extensive discussions on national matters and shared perspectives on Nigeria’s future.

Describing Seyi Tinubu as a longtime friend, Obi Cubana noted that their conversation touched on a wide range of issues affecting the country. He characterised the meeting as productive and forward-looking.

Reacting to the mixed public responses that followed the announcement, the businessman addressed critics by explaining his rationale for accepting the role. He maintained that real progress is achieved by participating in the process rather than remaining on the sidelines.

Obi Cubana stressed that his involvement in the City Boy Movement would not undermine his core values, including integrity, community empowerment, and responsible leadership. He explained that his decision was driven by a belief that influence is most effective when exercised from within.

Affirming his alignment with the movement, he described President Tinubu as a seasoned businessman and “City Boy,” adding that inclusivity would be central to his approach in the new position. He pledged to work with people across different backgrounds and viewpoints in pursuit of national growth.

Calling for tolerance and constructive dialogue, Obi Cubana urged Nigerians to respect differing opinions while prioritising initiatives that deliver tangible value to society. He encouraged citizens to remain focused on unity and development, describing the moment as one that demands collective action.
