Senator Dino Melaye,representing Kogi West in the Senate , has decamped from the All Progressives Party (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
The embattled Senator who arrived the National Assembly in clutches made his intention known at today’s rowdy plenary.
Melaye, while speaking during plenary on the floor of the Senate, requested the Senate leadership to create a seat for him in the opposition wing of the Senate.
A move which threw the entire Senate into a rowdy session, raising insinuations of his decision to dump the APC for PDP.
Melaye returned to Senate plenary after long weeks of absence occasioned by injuries sustained during his running saga with the Nigerian Police in a bit to escape arrest.
The Senator who had been in the intensive care department of the National Hospital, Abuja, appeared in the chamber with a neck support, narrating how the Police attempted to kill him in their custody.
Mr Melaye appreciated his colleagues, members of the House of Representatives, his constituents, the leadership of the PDP as well as Nigerians for giving him support during his travails with security operatives.
However, he thereafter announced he would sit beside former Senate President, David Mark, pending the time a seat will be allocated to him and was thereafter assisted by some of his colleagues to his preferred seat.
