President Tinubu Appoints Femi Fani-Kayode

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, as a non-career ambassador, marking yet another major political inclusion in the administration’s ongoing diplomatic reshuffle.

The appointment, confirmed on Thursday, places Fani-Kayode among the new set of political nominees expected to represent Nigeria’s interests abroad, pending Senate confirmation.

Fani-Kayode, a prominent political figure, lawyer, and former PDP chieftain who later defected to the APC, has remained a controversial but influential voice in national politics. His appointment is generating reactions across the country, with supporters describing it as “a strategic diplomatic move,” while critics argue it reflects “the administration’s preference for political loyalty.”

Although the specific country of posting has not yet been disclosed, sources within the Presidency hinted that the new ambassadorial list is part of Tinubu’s plan to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy engagements.

More details are expected as the Senate begins the screening process
