Power Crisis Narrowly Avoided After FG Steps In to Halt TCN Workers’ Strike

Nigeria narrowly escaped a nationwide blackout on Friday after electricity workers suspended their strike following 10 hours of gridlock and tension.

The strike, which threatened to plunge the entire country into darkness, was staged by staff of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) over a labour dispute.

However, swift intervention by the Federal Government led to an emergency resolution, prompting the workers to suspend their industrial action and restore normal operations.

The development brought relief to millions of Nigerians who had braced for widespread power outages across homes, businesses, and critical sectors.

Government officials assured the public that negotiations with the electricity workers would continue to prevent a repeat of the near-crisis.
