Portable Welcomes New Baby While in Detention as Court Adjourns Bail Hearing

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has welcomed a new child while still in detention, just days after being remanded in prison over criminal charges.

The arrival of the baby comes barely five days after the musician was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Ogun State on Monday, January 12, 2026. Portable is currently facing a nine-count charge stemming from an alleged assault on a police officer.

At the court sitting, the presiding judge refused to grant the singer bail, citing the absence of the police officer who was allegedly attacked and was expected to testify. As a result, Portable was ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings. The case has been adjourned to January 19, 2026, when the court is expected to consider his bail application.

While the legal battle continues, Portable’s first wife, Omobewaji, reportedly gave birth to a baby during his detention. Sources close to the singer disclosed that the news was relayed to him in prison.

According to insiders, Portable was said to be overjoyed upon hearing about the birth and expressed strong hopes of securing his release in time to meet his newborn child.
