The police has apprehended and paraded the Special Anti Robbery
Squad officer SARS, who arrested and forcefully extorted 5k from a lady in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Abayomi Shogunle, revealed that the arrest of the SARS officer came after the police received a complaint from a citizen via Twitter [ife_luv12] On 16th May, 2018.

“On 16th May, 2018, PCRRU received a complaint from a citizen via Twitter [ife_luv12] that a SARS Operative forced her to make a bank transfer of N5,000 to the said SARS operative’s bank account following an arrest for no just cause. .

PCRRU immediately registered the case (Tracking Number PCRRU316356) and initiated an investigation.
The officer was promptly identified to be Inspector Charles Omotosho,” the statement read.
Omotosho who was found guilty of the said crime, was also immediately removed from front-line police duties and taken into custody, as confirmed by the police unit.
The statement further disclosed that a copy of the officer’s statement of bank account was obtained, and the entry of the said transfer was discovered therein in the course of a preliminary investigation.

PCRRU noted that it established that there was a contact between the officer’s patrol team and the complainant and others at Ikorodu as contained in the complaint.
The IGP also ordered the AIG to commence the immediate necessary disciplinary action against Omotosho.
The SARS officer’s arrest came after the lady, Adegoke Ifeoluwa, narrated how Inspector Olushola Charles Omotosho, attached to FSARS, Ikorodu, Lagos, had harassed her and some people with her, asking for money and threatening to “waste” everyone should she fail to give the money as required.
Ifeoluwa said she told Omotosho that she had no cash and that she would do a transfer.
Omotosho agreed and provided his bank account details, Ifeoluwa said. She did the transfer, Omotosho confirmed receipt and Ifeoluwa went her way.
