Troops of the Nigerian Army under the 12 Brigade have successfully dismantled a terrorist hideout in Kogi State, dealing a significant setback to criminal elements operating in the area.

The operation, conducted as part of Operation Igbo Idanu I, targeted a network reportedly linked to notorious figures identified as Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu.
According to an official statement released by the Army on Wednesday, the mission resulted in the complete destruction of the group’s operational base and the recovery of a cache of weapons and ammunition.
Leading the offensive was the Commander of 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, who personally oversaw the operation.
Troops reportedly navigated through thick forest vegetation, marshy terrain, and riverine obstacles to reach the location, demonstrating tactical precision and resilience despite challenging environmental conditions.
To achieve the element of surprise, soldiers advanced on foot after dismounting, allowing them to penetrate deep into the suspected enclave. Upon sighting the advancing forces, the terrorists fled into the surrounding bush.
A subsequent sweep of the camp led to the recovery of eight boxes of 7.62 x 54 link ammunition—each containing bandoliers of 250 rounds—as well as a box of high-velocity grenades.
Military authorities noted that the seizure of these items has significantly weakened the group’s operational capacity.
Following the clearance, troops razed the camp to prevent its reuse and continued combing operations within the vicinity to track fleeing suspects and forestall any attempts at regrouping.
