Peter Obi has once again criticized the Federal Government for what he described as “needless lavish spending and political patronage”, while failing to pay those who “patriotically raise the flag and serve with dedication.”

Obi lamented the irony of a nation that continues to find funds for luxury and wasteful governance, yet struggles to reward its workers, teachers, and public servants.
“We always seem to find money to waste on needless lavish spending and political patronage, yet we cannot pay those who patriotically raise our flag, bring us pride, and serve with dedication. That is what is found in a ‘now disgraced country’,”
~ Peter Obi
His remarks have sparked renewed conversations about Nigeria’s governance priorities, especially amid rising debt, economic hardship, and unpaid wage arrears in several states.
The former Anambra governor has consistently advocated for fiscal discipline, reduced cost of governance, and equitable resource allocation as key pillars for national development.
