Reports have circulated in recent weeks suggesting that some political groups were exploring the possibility of Obi running as a running mate, especially amid renewed calls from supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for a repeat of the 2019 alliance.

At the same time, members of the Obidient Movement have continued to push for Obi to emerge as the presidential flagbearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with many insisting on an “Obi or nothing” stance.

Addressing the issue in a video sighted by Daily Trust, Obi made his position clear while campaigning for an ADC candidate ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.

Speaking at an event in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), the former Anambra State governor said he is actively involved in the next general election and intends to contest as the leading candidate.

Obi urged residents to support his preferred ADC candidate in the AMAC poll, stressing that the outcome of the local election was important to his broader political aspirations.

According to him, backing the party at the grassroots level would strengthen their collective journey toward national leadership.

“I am involved and contesting the coming election as number one,” Obi said, assuring supporters that his commitment to the 2027 presidential race remains unwavering.
