The General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has shared details of how he claims to have spiritually supported Nyesom Wike during critical moments in his political journey to becoming governor of Rivers State.

Speaking during a sermon at the church’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, the cleric recounted that the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory approached him at a time when his governorship ambition appeared to be collapsing due to legal challenges.
According to Ibiyeomie, Wike had already suffered setbacks in both the High Court and the Court of Appeal, and was anxiously awaiting the final verdict from the Supreme Court.
The pastor said he reached out to the politician while he was on a trip to Israel and offered words of reassurance.
He explained that Wike appeared deeply worried about the impending judgment, but he encouraged him to remain confident that the situation would turn in his favour.
The cleric further stated that shortly before the Supreme Court ruling, Wike attended one of the church’s “Five Nights of Glory” programmes.
At the time, he said the minister was a member of the opposition while the ruling party controlled the federal government, making the political atmosphere even more challenging.
Ibiyeomie claimed he prayed fervently during that period, declaring that even if the verdict initially appeared unfavourable, it would be reversed.
He added that when the outcome eventually favoured Wike, the politician returned to give thanks and invited him as the only clergy member at his thanksgiving service.
The pastor also narrated another episode during Wike’s re-election bid, when he said the political odds were again stacked against the former governor.
According to him, there were already plans by opponents to ensure Wike lost the election.
He recalled that the politician was visibly nervous at the time, prompting him to make what he described as a personal covenant with God on Wike’s behalf.
Ibiyeomie said he made a financial vow as part of his prayers, explaining that he offered what he described as “millions” as a sacrifice, though he never informed Wike about it.

He concluded by saying his intercession was not necessarily for the politician’s sake but to affirm his own faith in God.
