Odu community in Ewohimi Edo state, is gradually been taken over by panic, and confusion over alleged mysterious death in the once peaceful community .
A deity worshipped by the people at Odu shrine is allegedly on fire following the sudden death of the former chief priest Aghedo Utute.
Recent investigation revealed that the former chief priest passed on in 2017 in a mysterious circumstance and the first son of the late chief priest who according to tradition, to take over the reign of the shrine as custom demands is having problems with the community because he has no male child to perform the rituals, since custom demands that he must present his first son for a particular ritual for his installation.
As it Is, confusion has set in following the pressure from the elders of the community that the younger brother to the supposed chief priest should make available his first son to his brother as inheritance for the ritual.
This strange demand, investigation revealed may have set the community into deeper confusion as the younger brother is said to have gone into hiding with his children.
The new chief priest which should have been installed seven months ago, after seven days burial of the former late chief priest is yet to hold due to the condition attached to the shrine.
And the failure to install the new chief priest is suspected to have triggered the anger of the gods with mysterious deaths in the community now.
In 2005 stories concerning the same shrine where in the news when two young boys died in a mysterious circumstance leaked to the shrine.
All effort to speak to the first son of the former chief priest failed as information revealed that he traveled to Lagos in search of his brother who is said to have gone into hiding with his family.
