One person was killed, in the convoy of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, following an accident involved in, en route to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Friday.
The vice-president was said to be heading to the airport ahead of a flight to Lagos for an important meeting when the incident happened, killing one of his escort rider instantly.
The vice president reacting to the death of his staff, cancelled his flight to Lagos, in order to mourn the death of his late escort rider, identified as Ali Gomina.
Reacting to Ali Gomina’s death, the vice president said, Gomina is an hardworking, diligent and a very good officer, who will be missed by him and his colleagues.
Gomina is 45 years of age, when he died this morning and is survived by wife and children.
The cause of the accident is yet to be known and details were sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
There were concerns last year when a chopper which conveyed Osinbajo to a political rally in Kabba, Kogi state, crashed.
