Nnamdi Kanu Sacks Legal Team, Tells Court He’ll Defend Himself

In a dramatic twist at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has sacked his entire legal team and informed the presiding judge that he will personally conduct his defense going forward.

The development shocked many in the courtroom as Kanu, who is standing trial for alleged treasonable felony, said he had lost confidence in his current counsel and preferred to speak for himself in the ongoing case.

“I will defend myself,” Kanu reportedly told the court, insisting that no one could better represent his cause than himself.

The court has since adjourned proceedings to allow Kanu time to prepare for his self-representation. Legal observers say this decision could significantly alter the course of his trial, which has dragged on for years amid repeated adjournments and legal disputes.
