Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has lost his father, His Royal Highness, Eze Israel Okwu-Kanu.
The traditional ruler of Isiama Afara Ukwu, Eze Kanu reportedly passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Federal Medicare Centre, intensive unit, Umuahia
This is happening few days after his mother died on the 21st of October 2019.
Recall that the IPOB leader recently announced the death of his mother, Ugoeze Sally Okwu-Kanu, who died in Germany after a protracted illness.
May the souls of Eze and Lolo Israel Okwu Kanu rest in peace.
Kanu at this point is therefore asking to return to Nigeria to face trial on one condition that his safety is guaranteed but Justice Nyako says prison is the safest place.
Kanu was being tried for treasonable felony, hate speech and undermining national security when he fled Nigeria in September of 2017, after soldiers invaded his Dad’s compound in Afaraukwu, Umuahia in Abia State.
The separatist was on bail when he fled Nigeria.
Speaking through his counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Kanu prayed the court to restore his bail and guarantee his safety so he could return home to continue his trial.
