The Nigerian Army has officially released the names of candidates selected for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, marking the next phase of the recruitment exercise.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Military Secretary (Army), the Army announced that all successful applicants are expected to report for training at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI), Jaji, Kaduna State, by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, 22 February 2026.

The Army advised candidates and members of the public to verify the list of shortlisted applicants via its official recruitment portal at [https://recruitment.army.mil.ng]

According to the statement, the selection follows the conclusion of the DSSC Course 29/2026 Selection Board, and only candidates whose names appear on the published list are eligible to proceed to the training phase.

Shortlisted candidates are required to arrive at NASI, Jaji, with the following items:

1. Writing materials

2. Four copies of recent coloured passport photographs

3. Four copies of recent full-size coloured photographs (standing position in a suit)

Each full-size photograph must have the following details written at the back:

1. Surname

2. First Name

3. Other Names

4. Date of Birth

5. Service Number (for serving personnel only)

6. Current Unit (for serving personnel only)

Other required items include:

1. Scratch cards for online verification of WAEC and/or NECO results

2. Three plain white short-sleeve vests

3. Three pairs of blue shorts

4. One pair of canvas shoes or trainers and three pairs of white socks

5. Bucket and personal toiletries

6. A set of cutlery, including plate and drinking cups

7. Bedding materials such as blankets, bedspreads, mosquito net, pillowcases, and related items

The Nigerian Army emphasised that candidates who fail to report on the stated date or do not come with the required items may forfeit their place in the training programme.

The DSSC scheme remains one of the key pathways through which qualified professionals are inducted into the Nigerian Army to strengthen its operational and technical capacity.
