The Nigeria Police Force has deployed a specialised enforcement team to implement the newly announced ban on police officers serving as VIP escorts across the country.

The directive, issued under President Bola Tinubu’s security reform mandate, aims to redirect police personnel back to core policing duties amid rising insecurity nationwide.
According to the police authorities, the special team will ensure full compliance by identifying officers still attached to private individuals, politicians, and businessmen in violation of the order.
The enforcement squad is also expected to recover police assets currently being used for private escort operations and sanction any officer or VIP found flouting the directive.
This move marks one of the government’s strongest steps yet to strengthen security operations by freeing up manpower for community policing, rapid response, and crime prevention.
