On 26th June, 2016, Garba Baba Umar was decorated by IGP Ibrahim Idris with the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP Monitoring, a department which is saddled with the responsibility of checkmating and monitoring activities of officers and men of the Force nation wide.
Dcp Garba Baba Umar hails from Kaduna State, he holds a Bachelor of Education, Diploma in Law, MLC, MIRSS, Dip in Nation Security, he attended ABU Zaria, UNILAG, LASU, School of Management, Isreal. He is revered for his Dogged and Zero Tolerance to Indiscipline.
