NANS Raises Alarm Over Rising Insecurity

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity across the country, warning that the increasing attacks on schools pose a grave threat to the future of millions of Nigerian children.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, NANS said the frequent abductions, killings, and disruptions in learning environments have created widespread fear among students, parents, and teachers. The body warned that unless urgent action is taken, Nigeria’s already fragile education system could face long-term damage.

NANS called on the Federal Government, security agencies, and state authorities to intensify efforts to protect schools, ensure safe learning environments, and prevent further attacks on educational institutions.

The association stressed that the future of the country is at stake, as insecurity continues to weaken access to education — the backbone of national development.
