Morris Monye Resigns as Director of Mobilization

Prominent political strategist and philanthropist Morris Monye has resigned from his position as Director of Mobilization for the Obi-Dient Movement, citing disappointing Anambra election results, poor internal communication, and personal and financial strain.

In a statement released on Thursday, Monye expressed deep frustration over the lack of engagement and coordination within the movement’s leadership, including what he described as a prolonged silence from Peter Obi.

“I have invested over ₦40 million of my personal resources to support this movement because I believed in its vision. But the lack of communication and structure has made it unsustainable,” Monye stated.

He also lamented that despite massive grassroots mobilization efforts, the movement’s underwhelming performance in Anambra State reflected deeper organizational issues that, according to him, “cannot be ignored.”

Monye, who was one of the early supporters of Peter Obi’s presidential bid, reaffirmed his continued belief in the ideals of good governance and youth inclusion but noted that his resignation was necessary for his “mental, emotional, and financial wellbeing.”

“This is not about disloyalty but self-preservation. You can’t pour endlessly into a system that no longer listens,” he added.

His resignation has sparked conversations among supporters about the future direction of the Obi-Dient Movement and the need for greater transparency and communication within its leadership structure.
