Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has reaffirmed his position as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers amid fresh turmoil within the union’s leadership.

His statement comes in response to reports that Tajudeen Baruwa had assumed control of the union’s national secretariat in Abuja, citing court rulings that allegedly validate his claim to leadership.
Reacting to the development, MC Oluomo dismissed the move as an unlawful occupation of the union’s headquarters.
In a message shared via his Instagram page, he stressed that the legal battle over the leadership dispute is still unresolved and remains before the courts.
He clarified that he was not a party to the judgment referenced by Baruwa, adding that the ruling in question has already been challenged through the appropriate legal channels.
Stay Of Execution
According to him, a stay of execution has also been secured, effectively putting any enforcement of the judgment on hold.
MC Oluomo further noted that he has deliberately avoided direct engagement with Baruwa or any individuals involved in the dispute, given that the matter is sub judice.
He assured members of the union and the public that security agencies are actively managing the situation to maintain order.
Reiterating his stance, he maintained that he continues to function as the legitimate national leader of the NURTW despite the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, the crisis within the union intensified earlier this week following reports of Baruwa’s arrest, even as he claims legal backing for his leadership.
Power Tussle
The situation escalated dramatically when members aligned with his faction reportedly stormed the union’s secretariat in Abuja.
Viral footage circulating online showed them taking control of the premises and removing images of MC Oluomo.
The NURTW has been grappling with a prolonged leadership dispute spanning over two years, originating from a controversial delegates’ conference intended to usher in new national executives.
